The Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce (GNHCC) Leadership Center presents Walking Tours of New Haven, Connecticut. This project was taken on by the members of the Arts & Culture Team in the 2007 GNHCC Leadership class. This team is comprised of six individuals: Bruce DelMonico, Miriam James, Stephen Rosenberg, Steve Rupar, Carolyn Walker and Jim Wright (that's us in the photo above taking a team walk in New Haven).

THE THEATER & MUSEUM DISTRICT TOUR. This tour is narrated by Bruce DelMonico and Steve Rupar. It starts at Info New Haven (located at th corner of Chapel and College Streets). Stops on this tour include White Space Gallery, Union League Cafe, Skull & Bones, Harkness Tower & Old Campus, Arts & Architecture Building, the Yale Repertory Theater, the Yale Center for British Arts, Louis Lunch (famous for originating the hamburger!), and the Shubert Theatre.
THE BEINECKE AREA TOUR. This tour is narrated by Steve Rosenberg. It starts at Memorial Hall (this is located on the southwest corner of College and Grove Street) and continues on to Woolsey Hall, the Scroll and Key Secret Society, Sprague Hall, Woodbridge Hall, Gallows and Lollipops, The Commons, Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library, Sculpture Garden, Yale Law School, Mory's, Toad's Place, Yale Dramat Message Board, Sterling Memorial Library, the Book and Snake Secret Society, and the Grove Street Cemetery.
THE AUDUBON STREET TOUR. This tour is narrated by Jim Wright. It begins at the Foundry Building (at the corner of Audubon Street and Whitney Avenue). It continues on to the Foundry Music Company, the Neighborhood Music School, the Park of the Arts and the Farmington Canal, the Creative Arts Workshop, the New Haven Symphony, the Arts Council, and the New Haven Ballet, the Education Center for the Arts and ends at the Little Theater.
THE TOUR AROUND THE GREEN. This tour is narrated by Miriam James and Carolyn Walker. It begins at the Bennett Fountain which is located on the southeast corner of the green at the corner of Church Street and Chapel Street. The tour continues with stops at the New Haven City Sign, The Flagpole War Memorial on the Green, the United States Post Office and Courthouse, the Amistad Memorial, New Haven City Hall, the New Haven County Courthouse, the FREE Public Library, the Graduate Club, United Church, Center Church, and ends at Trinity Church.
Each tour includes maps and .mp3 audio files. They really are best experienced with the audio, so we hope you can take advantage of them, however if you don't have an iPod or another .mp3 player, simply download the maps, as they come with photos of each of the stops and a brief description of the site. Each takes approximately 1/2 hour - 1 1/2 hours to complete (all depending on how fast you walk or if you get tempted by the delicious culinary delights you might find on your way).
