The 23rd annual Christopher Martins Christmas Run For Children will be run on Sunday, December 9th at 10:00 a.m. For more than twenty years, the 5K race has donated over 30,000 toys to needy children in New Haven during the Christmas season. As always, participants are asked to donate a toy instead of paying an entry fee. Patrons and spectators as well donate toys on race day. Race organizers are expecting to distribute over 2,000 toys this year.
John Bysiewicz, director of many of Connecticut's top running events, will direct the race again this year. Bysiewicz coordinates the New Haven Road Race, Fairfield Road Races and the Mystic Places Marathon. Nearly 1,200 runners participated in last year's event and more are expected to compete this year. The certified 5K course is flat and very fast, starting and finishing at Christopher Martins Restaurant. There will be computerized results. Free refreshments are served after the race in the cozy warmth of Christopher Martins. For race information call (203) 481-5933 or visit jbsports.com. The race is sponsored by Christopher Martins, UHY Advisors, J.J. Farrell Associates, Trailblazer and 99.1 PLR.
